Our Story

In late 2014, longtime friends and colleagues JT Delaney and Joshua Hartley, having worked in student housing painting together for years, formed Brushmen LLC. Looking to work in and be a part of the growing student housing market. Along the way delving into the conventional side of multi-family, commercial and even new construction projects.

Meanwhile Jacob Hancock and Caleb Hancock, brothers who had also worked in student housing, began working together to complete residential painting projects. The brothers soon after formed Standby Brothers. Together they worked with homeowners and project managers with all forms of painting. Eventually making their way into construction and conventional multi-family as well.

The the partners of Brushmen and Standby Brothers have all kept a close friendship since before they ever worked together in student housing. Josh a cousin to Jake and Caleb and JT a family friend since childhood.

Early in 2021, they began discussing their upcoming projects and needs for the coming year. The four recognized an opportunity to combine their efforts, something they did from time to time for a project, into a permanent collaboration. The two companies merged in April 2021 and have been helping Homeowners, Property Managers, General Contractors and Student Housing Communities all over Michigan ever since.
